Published on 7th September 2015 in Blog, Mornington Peninsula Activities, Mornington Peninsula Events

Spring has made its way to the lush green hills and coastal towns of Mornington Peninsula, with flowers in full bloom for tourists and locals alike to enjoy. This September, there are a range of exciting events unfolding across the region, from flower shows and markets to art exhibitions and sculpture walks

Due to this, there's a lot to do on Mornington Peninsula this month. In order to make your choice easier, here is a guide to the best indoor and outdoor activity for the month of September.

These two have have been selected as the 'best' because they are a limited time special event, whereas you can indulge in the markets and other regular events any time. No matter how the weather turns out to be during your stay in Mornington Peninsula this month, there is a fun indoor and outdoor activity to please everyone.

Indoor: Treasures from the Collection, Curator's Talk, September 1 – 30

This event is hosted in the beautiful Beleura House, which was built back in 1863. In 1996, the mansion was bequeathed to the people of Victoria by its owner Jack Morton Tallis. Mr Tallis wished for the home to be made public, given it was a place of historic and educational interest.

This September, treasures and items that are usually hidden away drawers or cupboards, or stored in the John Tallis Research Centre, will instead be on display for people to peruse along with a personalised Curator's Talk.

Delve back in time as you look at old artworks and engravings, autographed letters, vintage archives and other precious, priceless items that belonged to the Tallis family. Best of all, the Curator will discuss these over lunch – and the Beluera House and Garden is renowned for its produce.

Outdoor: Ranger Guided Spotlight Walk, Briars Park, September 19, 20 and 22

Thrill seekers will adore this night walk through the Briars Park Wildlife Sanctuary on Mount Martha, armed with nothing but a large spotlight torch as you follow the experienced rangers through the wilderness.

In Australia, much of our native wildlife comes out after dark and so this is an ideal way to see and interact with them. You are likely to see kangaroos, wallabies, possums, koalas and insect-eating bats under the cloak of darkness. Book your tickets in advance and bring your own spotlight!

Enjoy these talks and walks this month at Mornington Peninsula!
