Mornington’s Mount Martha
Tweet Published on 29th November 2014 in Blog, Mornington Peninsula ActivitiesVictoria has so many beautiful destinations to offer holidaymakers, many of which are within close vicinity to your Mornington Peninsula holiday accommodation. When you're staying at Moonah Links and looking for a charming and idyllic day trip destination, head to Mount Martha.
Located less than a half hour's drive away from your resort, Mount Martha is a great location for anyone looking to get away from it all for the day. It offers both bushland and beaches, with just a small township serving as its only nod to commercialisation.
Take the kids to play at the safe swimming beaches here, accented by vibrant colourful bathing boxes. When you feel like stretching your legs, talk a walk around the coast, which consists of bushland and rocky cliffs with plenty of viewing points and walking tracks. Explore the 53 hectares of native bushland at Mount Martha Park or hike up to the peak of Mount Martha for panoramic views of the bay.
Don't miss The Briars, a rural homestead sitting on 230 hectares of stunning land. Learn about The Briars' history through a volunteer Homestead Guide, and take in the native flora and fauna with a stroll over one of the many walking tracks on the property. There's also a wildlife sanctuary onsite, plus a cafe and restaurant for you to dine at during your visit. Alternatively, pack a picnic and use the barbeque facilities.
See the area from a new angle by driving along the coastal road of the Esplanade, which links Mount Martha with Mornington and Safety Beach. Perched high on the steep coastline, the drive isn't for the faint hearted, but presents beautiful views across the bay and over to an impressive collection of houses.
