5 fun family activities for a winter holiday in Mornington Peninsula

With its soft sand dunes and lush green landscapes, Mornington Peninsula is a natural playground for children. Bring them along during their winter school holidays for a fun-filled stay in the peninsula and make the most of these five exciting activities!
1. Go tree surfing

Unleash their wild side in the safe, secure Nippers course at the Tree Surfing arena of the Enchanted Adventure Garden, located at 55 Purves Road, Arthurs Seat. This course has been especially designed for children using high quality harnesses and a continuous cabling system.
2. Collect seashells at the beach

There is so much joy to be had on a beach, even without dipping your toes in the water. Take an old mason jar along with you and fill half of it with sand. Enjoy a family scavenger hunt for as many different shapes, sizes and colours of seashells on the beach, and fill up the jar with the best ones. It is a simple yet sweet souvenir to take home from your family vacation.

Take some crayons, pencils and paper and set up an outdoor art studio on the beach. Get the kids to draw and colour in the bathing boxes in the same shades they see.

Also located in the Enchanted Adventure Garden, this is a great way to work as a team and bond as a family in the three Hedge Bordered Mazes. One of them has a lovely Japanese garden at its centre, a treat after the journey through. A Children's Maze has been created as though coming to life from the pages of a story book, complete with fairies, cheerful sculpture, puzzles and a cute cubby house to rest in.
5. See the choo choo trains

This will delight both the young ones and any teenagers with a passion for Harry Potter. There are monthly rides available on the steam locomotive on the first three Sundays. A train leaves Mornington every few hours and travels to Moorooduc, then returns back so it is an enjoyable ride inside the heritage train carriages.
