The benefits of mineral hot springs

There are plenty of benefits of enjoying hot springs in Victoria, the most obvious of which is that it is utterly relaxing. The Mornington Peninsula has been blessed with natural hot mineral springs found deep underground, with hot water hosting an abundance of healing minerals that flow to the surface and provide therapeutic benefits for bathers. One such location can be found right next to Peppers Moonah Links Resort at the Peninsula Hot Springs.

Society has used natural spring water over time for a range of purposes, including healing, purification, tribal meetings and sacred gatherings. Worldwide they are still used regularly for their healing purposes, with different minerals in the water providing unique health benefits for your body and mind, according to Ingrid Stober and Kurt Bucher's book 'Geothermal Energy: From Theoretical Models to Exploration and Development'.

The Peninsula Hot Springs consist of water that is believed to have existed within the earth for more than 10,000 years. The sodium chloride bicarbonate hot springs contain potassium, magnesium, calcium and sodium ions, and are classed as true mineral springs. These springs can help improve your body's blood circulation as your skin soaks in the healing minerals and oxygen flow increases, helping to keep your cardiovascular system healthy.

Some springs can also promote healthy skin and assist with some conditions such as psoriasis, along with allowing your muscles to relax and helping to relieve joint pain. Moreover, there's nothing quite as relaxing as simply sitting back in a hot body of water and letting your worries wash away. Top off the experience with a massage, sauna, or a reflexology walk and leave the hot springs feeling refreshed, revived and rejuvenated.
