Breweries and vineyards you should visit in Mornington Peninsula
Tweet Published on 17th April 2015 in Blog, Mornington Peninsula ActivitiesAfter months of all work and no play, you and your friends have decided to give yourselves a long weekend. It's about time.
As all of you enjoy a fine glass of wine or tall craft beer, Mornington Peninsula is chalk full of vineyards and breweries you can visit. The question is: which venues make up the cream of the crop as far as such places go?
Red Hill Brewery
For Red Hill Brewery, located on Shoreham Road near the centre of the Peninsula, the weekend of April 24 is an exciting time. On Saturday and Sunday, the business will be celebrating its tenth anniversary, and welcoming beer-lovers from around the country to join them.
Don't worry, the party's not BYOB. To honour its history, Red Hill Brewery is crafting ten different red beers. The first brew, The Bloody Plums, features a label created by local artist Nick Kallincos, made from the fruit of owners Karen and David Golding's plum tree. A recent tweet from the company provides a link to the details:

Ten Minutes By Tractor
At first glance, you wouldn't think Ten Minutes By Tractor would be a vineyard, but it's one you shouldn't miss out on visiting. Located on Mornington-Flinders Road, just south of Red Hill, the estate was born in 1982 when Richard McIntyre bought a piece of land near Main Ridge, a sub-region of Mornington Peninsula that offers an ideal setup for aspiring vintners.
Some time later, the McCutcheon and Wallis families purchased additional sites on Main Ridge, mingling with one another and experimenting with the craft of wine making.
After years of struggling with the cost of labour, equipment and upkeep, Mr McCutcheon proposed to his fellow vintners that they combine their resources to form a cooperative. After a person offhandedly described their vineyards as being "10 minutes by tractor" away from one another, the collective found a name.
