Couples staying in Mornington Peninsula have the added benefit of riding through resplendent seascapes and gently rolling hills, with the ocean lapping softly against the sandy shores before you.
Indeed, riding off into the sunset with the love of your life is sure to make for a romantic date. Offering a sweet, nostalgic glimpse into the past, horseback riding brings with it memories of the elegant Victorian era as well as the fantasy of fairytales.
Whether you are galloping through the shallow waves on the beach or travelling between vineyards seated on a saddle, an evening date in Mornington Peninsula on horseback can offer memories to last a lifetime. There are several places to book your horseback adventure, including the following two:
Ace-Hi Ranch
Situated on Cape Schanck, only a few minutes away from Rosebud, this ranch is renowned for its western theme. Riding is available every Saturday and Sunday for people of all skill levels, from beginners over the age of seven through to those experienced on a saddle.
The Scenic Trail Ride comes with variations for a walk, or an extended ride including opportunities to trot and canter. The Forest Ride is an adventurous excursion, meandering through the lush greens of the Greens Bush National Park and the local market gardens.
For those wishing to hear the call of the ocean waves, the Bush 'n' Beach ride takes you to the Mornington Peninsula National Park and then onto the sandy beach. You may canter along the edge of the waves, the sea breeze blowing your hair, and then return to the ranch at the end of the tour.
Gunnamatta Trail Rides
Located on the corner of Truemans and Sandy Road in Fingal, Gunnamatta Trail Rides provide an entire day's worth of horseback bliss for experienced riders with their All Day Combination Ride. Lasting around five hours, this tour begins with a three hour Green's Bush ride, followed by lunch.
Later, you visit St Andrews Beach, allowing a day of both the emerald tones of the trees and the sapphire hues of the ocean. They also offer these rides as individual trips, so people wishing to do only or the other can book accordingly – especially if they wish to spend some time in the morning playing a spot of golf.
After your trip, why not visit some of the wonderful vineyards in the region to sip some wine and reminisce about your evening?
