Holidays at Moonah Links and on the Mornington Peninsula are often extremely relaxed affairs. You're here for a break and to enjoy not having to lift a finger as you're served breakfast, lunch and dinner. But if you're looking for something interesting to do on the Mornington Peninsula maybe you could be the one cooking up a storm on one of the region's excellent cookery courses.

When you've finished your morning round of golf at Moonah Links Resort, consider an afternoon at one of these cookery courses that will send you home from your holiday in Victoria with a whole new set of culinary skills.

Green Olive at Red Hill

The Green Olive restaurant at the Red Hill vineyard is a popular local spot to enjoy a sunny breakfast or lunch, and its farm shop is loved by those with a keen taste for local artisan food. Located in Main Ridge, a short drive from Moonah Links, the owner's passion for food and excellent standards was rewarded with an Excellence in Food Tourism award at the 2014 Victorian Tourism Awards.

There's a great range of cooking courses on offer. 'Hermann the German' will take you through the finer points of making and cooking an authentic bratwurst sausage on the sausage making course. Or try the art of wood fired pizza making, where budding chefs pick their own herbs and toppings straight from the Green Olive garden and make their own pizza base from scratch.

Fare Italian Cookery School

Deborah Bourke, owner of Fare Italian Cookery School, is a self-confessed Italophile, obsessed with all things Italian, particularly the cuisine. She has studied Italian cooking in both London and Bologna and now brings that flair to the Mornington Peninsula.

The school is located in Mount Martha and offers various classes. In the Master Fresh Pasta class you'll learn the tricks and techniques to make delicious fresh pasta. The most popular class is the My Big Fat Italian Dinner Party class, where, after welcoming you with a glass of Prosecco, Deborah will teach you how to create a four course Italian meal for your family and friends.

Chez Lulu

Music lovers will feel right at home in the Chez Lulu kitchen, where hosts Louis and Louise guide you through a range of international dishes made from fresh, local ingredients, while various live musicians set the atmosphere, playing anything from Spanish guitar to Indian sitar.

The classes at Chez Lulu last between 3 – 4 hours and you could find yourself cooking anything from coconut prawn salad with green beans & mango, to paella de marisco (seafood paella) cooked with fresh Mornington Peninsula fish.
