Create your very own gin at Bass and Flinders distillery

Every golfer knows that part of the attraction of playing is enjoying a social drink and discussing your game after a good day on the greens. Many golfers who come to Moonah Links Resort to enjoy a game at one of the premier golf courses in Victoria like nothing better than relaxing Spike Bar with a good wine, a gin and tonic, or something else altogether.

If G&T is your tipple of choice, then you might be interested in dropping by the Bass & Flinders distillery next time you're visiting Mornington Peninsula.

Great gin and more

Bass & Flinders is a small batch distiller that produces quality grape spirits, such as gin, vodka, limoncello, grappa and other liqueurs. Wayne Klintworth and Bob Laing founded the distillery in 2009. Their desire to bravely explore uncharted territory prompted them to name it after famous Australian explorers George Bass and Matthew Flinders.

The distillery can be found on Red Hill Road, less than 25 minutes from Moonah Links and offers regular gin tastings and distillery tours.

Create your own gin

Real gin connoisseurs will want to take part in the Gin Experience at Bass & Flinders. Spend a day with Wayne and Bob and learn about the techniques and ingredients involved in producing high-class gin.

Sample a variety of gins accompanied by fruit and cheese boards from local artisan suppliers. When you've refined your taste buds and learned the qualities needed for a great gin, experiment with various flavours to devise and create your very own gin from a range of Bass & Flinders infused botanicals.

Once the gin has been produced it will be delivered to you with your own personalised label to show off to your friends and family.

The Gin Experience classes cost $120 per position (one position can include two people – you'll produce one bottle of gin between you). They prove to be very popular so be sure to book well in advance.
